Our Programs
What is FTC?
We are proud to offer an FTC robotics team free of cost to our community. FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) is a league within FIRST Robotics, a worldwide robotics organization aimed to get students interested in STEM fields.
FTC combines aspects of engineering, programming, public speaking, business, and strategy to engage students in STEM education.
Each year, teams of 7th - 12th grade students are given a unique game and tasked to build a robot to compete. This isn’t BattleBots (even thought we love BattleBots) - FIRST was founded on the principle of Gracious Professionalism, meaning students go out of their way to help other teams compete at their best.
Why Robotics?
We love FTC Robotics because it gives students an opportunity to explore real world skills that may inspire future careers while encouraging positive citizenship and teamwork. In robotics you can’t succeed on your own; each team relies on the skill set and unique attributes of each member.
Although we compete alongside other Oregon teams, our program doesn’t focus on winning. We focus on the development of each individual student and the mission to make STEM education more accessible within our community.
